The vinceunlimited Videos Page

I have been filming videos since the purchase of a Panasonic WVP-200E video camera kit in 1984, comprising the camera with VHS recording onto a separate portable VHS cassette machine but this died of moisture damage a couple of years later. In 1988 I upgraded to a Hi8 Sony CCD V5000E shoulder mount camcorder which lasted at least ten more years. Since then my filming has been in digital format, first with digital cameras then by my various smartphones.

YouTube was founded in 1985 and I created an account under the name vinceunlimited on 1 Jan 2007 and I shall be uploading links to my videos here with notes about the films. However, if you want the YouTube convenience and experience please feel free to visit my site at www.youtube.com/vinceunlimited

All videography and filming was carried out by me and is copyright, along with the tagline A Film by Vince, unless otherwise advised. Please contact me if you wish to use any content.

Early Films by Vince

A presented compilation of private videos filmed by me during 1984 and 1985, with compilation inserts from January 1991.

All the original video footage was filmed on a Panasonic WVP200E camcorder with matching NV100 video cassette recorder, then edited in S-VHS with a JVC HR-D725-U S-VHS video recorder.

The sound is the original captured direct from the camcorder, except the post production music overlays on the Launceston Drive, Zoo, Vehicles and Best Bits sequences.

Post production introduction and inserts written, presented and filmed by me, complete with home made card titles, in January 1991 using a Sony CCD V5000E Hi8 camcorder, with editing on a Panasonic NV-HS1000 S-VHS video recorder.

Final digital transfer, edit and titles created in iMovie, by me in December 2015.

Part one of the film features:

An Evening with Kev and Rob - Video from when I purchased my first camcorder, in December 1984

Launceston Drive - The first apartment I purchased with Lynda, c. 1985

The People - Some family moments, c. 1985

Vince’s Work - Footage from a quiet working day when I was at Johnson & Baxter (Southampton) Ltd, c. 1985

Zoo - Filmed at Southampton Zoological Gardens, not long before it was shut down in 1985

Severn Bore - Shot during one of the many tidal bore river surges on the Severn River. This phenomena can occur over 100 times a year but it’s impact can vary, c. 1985

The title card from part two of the Early Films by Vince showing the author sat on a plump sofa.
Early Films by Vince. Click the image to play part 2 of 2 of the video via YouTube

Part two of the film features:

Vehicles - Shots of my wife Lynda driving our first Citroën BX16RS, my Ford Cortina Mk V company car then skilfully riding our Kawasaki GPz750R motorcycle.

These sequences include Lynda’s classic ‘unable to pull out in front of a [high speed?] milk float’ episode. In fairness we had not had the bike long, c. 1985. The model is of a Vincent Black Shadow.

Holidays - Footage taken in 1985 on a family holiday to the Cotswolds where we found out the farm, in which our cottage was located, was carrying out muck spreading all week. The village shots were filmed at Bourton-on-the-Water.

The canal trip was a separate holiday on the Llangollen canal with Lynda’s family the same year, including her father Peter’s great and clear line “You won’t hear a thing for that engine, I bet.”

It was this holiday that finished the Panasonic camcorder because although it had circuitry to avoid electronic damage due to low temperatures the damp atmosphere of the canal trip was too much for it to bear.

Best Bits - A compilation sequence of interesting family shots, starting with Lynda and her immortal line when approaching a tractor emerging from a side turning “I do hope he’s gonna stop because I’m not.”, 1984-1985

Both parts uploaded to YouTube in the Entertainment category on 29 December 2015.

The two parts were separated because of the video sequence length restrictions on the YouTube account.

No music rights included.

The Launceston Drive music sample is Ghostbusters [Instrumental Version] by Ray Parker Jr. from the soundtrack album Ghostbusters, written and performed by Ray Parker Jr.

Zoo sequence music and final end credits feature Monkey House by T’Pau featured on the album Bridge of Spies, written by Carol Decker and Ron Rogers and performed by T’Pau

The Vehicles sequence has been overlaid with music from Ride Like The Wind by Saxon featured on the album Destiny, written by Christopher Cross and performed by Saxon

The Best Bits music overlay is Memory by Elaine Paige featured on the album Cats, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, T. S. Eliot and Trevor Nunn and performed by Elaine Paige

Part one lasts 11 minutes and 11 seconds and to date has received just 30 views and one ‘Like’

Part two lasts 14 minutes and 51 seconds and to date has received just 24 views and one ‘Like’

Performances

Vince's Big Break

Vince's Big Break. Click the image to play the video via YouTube

Extracts from the episode of BBC's Big Break which featured Vince Poynter.

This was a broadcast pilot episode which ran as the third episode in series one and was watched by an estimated 16 million people.

The episode was planned to be the very first one shown in the BBC's new gameshow.

Rehearsals and setting up with the technical crew, host and contestants took place over about three days.

During this time the pocket colours were switched because the result of practice runs meant the contestants were 'winning' too much money.

The snooker guest stars were only introduced when the final filming took place so were not fully practiced in what to do and had to keep asking the contestants what they should be doing.

The episode was broadcast as the third one in the series due to a climatic, last second winning of the top prize. So the initial introduction to the series by Jim Davidson was swapped with another episode.

Keen viewers may notice that there are not many scenes of the audience during the show. This was because a sudden snowfall prevented the contestants families, friends and other audience members from getting to the studio and the show was filmed in front of only a couple of dozen people.

Originally filmed, edited and produced by the BBC with original BBC titles and soundtrack.

The editing of the footage was carried out by Vince Poynter in S-VHS with a Panasonic NV-HS1000 video player. With final post production editing and titles using the Apple OS iMovie application using a customised stock title sequence.

The video lasts 8 minutes and 5 seconds and was uploaded to YouTube, in the Entertainment category, on 30 December 2015 and to date has received just over 900 views.
